What would cause both Protein in urine and coffee ground vomit?
My daughter is 14 weeks pregnant and has a little protein in her urine and had vomit that looked like coffee grounds.
I will be contacting the doctor tomorrow as well.
When blood meets gastric acid in the stomach, it oxidizes, and the result looks like coffee grounds when it's vomited. This is a classic sign of an upper gastrointestinal bleed, usually from an ulcer or a tear in the esophagus.
The protein in the urine is concerning, however, since she's pregnant. This could be a sign of pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, or a kidney problem (including stones). She needs to see a doctor as soon as possible.
