Many offices, professional corporations, and clinics may not realize it, but they may be playing with fire… literally. Home coffee brewers on the other hand, are created for moderate daily use. They are warranted for one to three years for home use only and their warranty specifically lists "commercial use" as a misuse that is not covered. Some do not have the automatic shut-off feature that is available on many commercial coffee brewers and their fragile wiring is not meant to support commercial wear and tear. When an office attempts to frequently brew large amounts of coffee such as Maxwell House coffee, Folgers coffee or other blends, the risk of fire greatly increases.
Check with Your Insurance Carrier
Sure, residential style brewers cost less, but are they really worth the potential fire hazards? Check with your insurance carrier to see if your office fire coverage includes a home style brewer. Don't risk fire just to make one more pot of your favorite Maxwell House coffee or other blend in an over-worked and under-wired home style brewer. Upgrade to a commercial brewer designed to keep up with heavy daily use and minimize your fire hazard risk.
Improve Your Coffee Brewing Equipment
Leading commercial coffee brewer manufacturers like BUNN-O-MATIC and Keurig build two styles of brewers, one for domestic use and one for commercial use. In fact, Keurig specifically requires signed legal releases from their "away from home" distributors indicating they will not install residential style brewers in commercial office locations.
The machine you use to brew your coffee is important for taste and safety. Local office coffee providers can supply you with free commercial equipment in return for purchasing your coffee from them and paying a premium for supplies, which isn't very cost effective.
An alternative and beneficial option, is to purchase durable coffee equipment and supplies from an online cheaper coffee supplier.
