The Best cup of coffee I have ever had
My husband is in "love" with coffee. So, for his birthday, I bought him this French Press. He absolutely loves this French Press. He says it makes the best cup of coffee that he has ever had. I do drink coffee occassionally and completely agree with him. There is no need to spend over $100 for a coffee drip machine, when you can have the best with this French press. The taste is smoother and less bitter. You just have to try it. You will need some patience as you do have to wait a little longer, but it is well worth the wait. The quality is there and you can order replacement parts if necessary. Do not hessitate to try this if you want the best cup of coffee you have ever had.

Simply Elegant coffee
I bought my Bodum from Starbucks two years ago and just getting around to using it and "It's like going to Starbucks" without having to pay a small fortune.
I pride myself at finding frugal ways to live richly. This French press is one of them. If Starbucks coffee knocks your socks off but not over spending your hard earned dollars, buy a nice blend from them and tell them that you have a French coffee press and you need them to grind the beans coarse. That is, if you don't have a grinder. For the money you save with the French press, you can afford a grinder and a fresh bag or two of imported coffee.
One warning: if you don't like your coffee strong, you may want to add some hot water to your brewed cup because the cups measurements on the press are smaller than a regular cup so the coffee tends to be stronger. Brewing it strong is great for making ice coffee though.
I like idea of putting it in carafe or thermos because otherwise, you will only have twenty minutes to drink it once the four minute brew cycle is done if you leave it in the press.
I immediately poured the remaining coffee into a large mug so it wouldn't become over brewed.
I'm going to try brewing it with tea leaves as well.
I am thinking about the smaller one for my office.

Great coffee
My husband loves coffee made in a french press and he realy is impressed with the 51oz press we purchased. He'd wanted a larger press and this one fits the bill. Easy to use, easy clean-up. The only thing we would add is a mark of some kind to indicate where the pour grid is. We had to "spin" the top around a bit at first to locate it. This is a feature our old press did not have.

Finally... after 10 years!
Back in 1999, I traveled to Jamaica on vacation, and for the first time experienced Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. It's BY FAR the best coffee in the world (my Colombian fiance would disagree, I'm sure). Ever since I brought 3 pounds of sweet Jamaican Blue home with me from a street vendor in Ocho Rios, I have been trying to reproduce that same quality cup at home that I enjoyed with breakfast each morning, before switching to Mud Slides & whisky doubles (HA!). I was unsuccessful... until now!
I bought this Bodum French Press last week on Amazon and tried it out for the first time this weekend with a new bag of whole bean Jamaican Blue I bought in a zip-lock bag from a guy at a carribben foods store here in T-town. Much cheaper than the coffee clubs, but much more expensive than buying it in Jamaica. Let me tell you, I was sooooo happy with the results. You can't "filter" Jamaican coffee (or ANY coffee ever again) through a drip maker. That was why I couldn't get it right all this time. It filters out all of the oils, and all of the "coffee" and leaves you some brown... water at best. I'll never use a filtered coffee maker again. Gross. I just gave my Gevalia drip maketer to my mother this weekend cause she said the Bodum cup was too strong for her. It's just ME and my Bodum from here on out.
It's a great little coffee maker, and makes real coffee. It's pretty too. Everyone loves it, and were all gathered around me when I was grinding my Jamaican beans and making my first pot like I was doing something that no one has ever done before. Hahahahaha! I have made 5 pots total so far, and cannot/won't stop. It's really great and I recommend it to EVERYONE if you like coffee. You'll never go back. Clean-up is simple, and the quality of coffee you'll be drinking with raise the bar forever. Buy it!
Where To BuyBodum Chambord Coffee Press
Buy several! Cause you'll want them EVERYWHERE!
I've owned a french press for years, but I haven't fully embraced it's usage until the past year or so. These little babies are fantastic... I keep one at home, one at work, and another single serve travel press floating with me.
I have done a lot of different experimenting with ways to make good coffee while at work, since the normal provided break room coffee is such garbage. I've tried Vietnamese style coffee drips, along with these Bodum presses. The drip coffee setup took too long, and was too messy, while it did make a good cup of coffee.
I have the bodum press down to a science now. I keep an air-tight container of pre-ground coffee at my desk, along with a clean press. When I get in to work in the morning, I drop some grounds into the press and swing by the break room to fill the pot with hot water from our big industrial sized coffee maker. Making sure the water is scalding hot is a must, if it's not near boiling temp you'll end up with a bad pot of coffee. Let the coffee brew for 4-6 minutes depending on your tastes, and then press and enjoy. I used to need several flavored creams in my coffee to actually enjoy it, until I started using a press and found that I wasn't really tasting my coffee. Now I don't use flavored cream at all, and use only a touch of regular cream.
Grounds: This is the most important part of the whole equation to me. I've had good and bad luck with coffee choices and grind types. For my press, I generally grind an entire pound of coffee at once. I do this because I use a blade ginder at home, which doesn't really have an option for a course grind. I've found that starbucks will always grind your beans wrong, even when you tell them it's for a press. They ALWAYS grind them too fine, and you end up with sludge coffee. I'm now only getting coffee at a supermarket that I can grind the beans myself on a self serve machine set to one of the last course options. Trader Joe's is my current favorite for this, they have fantastic coffee for a good price.
Beans to use: Depending on your tastes, or how much caffeine you want, you can go a couple ways with coffee bean choices. I've found that most "bolds" end up being very oily when brewed in a press. I generally like bolds when they're brewed in an auto-drip coffee maker, but for the press they end up a little too bitter for my taste. That's not to say you won't find them to be your favorite. I also haven't had good luck with "light blends" in the press, as they always seem to lack good flavor. I've settled on picking up medium blends to use in my press, I've experimented with several different medium blends and still don't have a favorite, mostly because I've enjoyed them all.
Don't stick to one coffee choice for your press, experiment with different roasts and different grinding options. You'll never find your favorite without throwing out a few pots.
